Grow a Bean

Bible Connection: Genesis 1:11–12

What You’ll Need:
Bean seeds, clear bag or jar, damp kitchen roll.

Predict:
Which part of the seed will appear first?

Let’s Experiment:
Place the bean against damp kitchen roll. Keep it somewhere light and observe it each day.

What Happened?
A root begins growing downward and a shoot begins growing upward.

Germination begins when a seed receives suitable water, oxygen and temperature.

How does such a large plant begin inside such a small seed?
