Rainbow Refraction

Bible Connection: Genesis 1:3–4

What You’ll Need:
A glass of water, white paper, sunlight or a torch.

What Do You Think Will Happen?
What colours do you think are hiding inside white light?

Let’s Experiment:
Place the glass of water where light can shine through it. Move the white paper until you see colours appear.

What Happened?
The light separated into different colours.

The STEM Behind It:
White light contains many colours. When light passes through water, it bends. Different colours bend by different amounts.

God created light with properties we can investigate and understand.

Why do you think we normally see sunlight as white?
